Named after the year the brand was founded, Emporio Armani‘s new 1981 bag collection revisits archival codes through origami-inspired detailing, versatile silhouettes and a palette of enduring neutrals.

More than four decades after its founding, Emporio Armani is revisiting the year that started it all. Named after 1981, the house’s new bag collection draws on archival references, revived micro-prints and origami-inspired detailing to create a family of accessories rooted in the brand’s design language.

The collection takes shape through research into the archives, bringing back a distinctive micro-print that has been reinterpreted for today. Used across the range, the motif serves as a link between the brand’s history and a contemporary accessories offering designed for everyday wear.

Clean lines and adaptable proportions define the collection. Designed to move between work, travel and leisure, the bags balance practicality with a refined aesthetic, allowing them to integrate easily into different wardrobes and occasions.

A recurring feature throughout the collection is a series of folds and sculptural details inspired by the Japanese art of origami. Introduced as a subtle signature, these elements create texture and dimension across the collection while maintaining a clean and understated appearance.

The range includes rounded hobo bags distinguished by asymmetric folds, alongside tote bags, handbags and shoulder bags with structured flap designs. Finishing details draw from both jewellery and the house’s heritage, with polished clasps and folded charms adding considered accents throughout the collection.

A colour palette of tan, black and taupe reinforces the collection’s versatility, complementing the understated design language that runs throughout the range.

With 1981, Emporio Armani translates a founding year into a contemporary accessories collection, bringing archival references into dialogue with the needs of a modern wardrobe.

The Emporio Armani 1981 bag collection is now available in selected boutiques worldwide and online.
